Unemployment: My vision is to see that everybody is gainfully employed- Atiku

The former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar commissioned a Standard Microfinance corporate headquarters in Yola.

The Wazirin Adamawa in his speech at the premises of the Bank’s corporate office, Monday said the country is the Headquarters of world poverty, a reason why so many Nigerians involved in banditry, armed robbery, and many social vices.

According to him, this and many more reasons is keeping to his vision of everybody must be gainfully employed because the social vices are caused as a result of unemployment.

“My vision is to see that everyone is gainfully employed.

“I want to give people the opportunity to be gainful employed either you have been to school or not, every person has a productive capacity, the only thing is that, are we going to deploy our productive capacity in a negative way or the positive way,” Atiku said

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri delivering his speech as a special celebrated Abubakar for yet another feat in his quest to grow the economy, human capital development while also empowering families in Adamawa State.

Ahmadu further said the vision of the Wazirin Adamawa is in tandem with the state’s economic blueprint for the people of the State and they promised never to leave any stone unturned towards ensuring the economic growth and development of the State.

His speech which read in parts said: “I am aware that besides the State Government, His Excellency is the next employer of labour in our dear State, a development that has endeared him to the people.

“On our own, we would continue to create that safe environment for business to flourish in Adamawa State.

Since its inception, we have been working hard to sustain a safe environment in order to attract more local and International investors into the State.

I am proud to say that Adamawa State is now very safe for investors, and so, we urge investors to leverage on the opportunities created to invest in the State.

“I want to congratulate the Standard Micro Finance Bank for all the landmark achievements in the last Twenty Nine (29) years with Twelve (12) branches in the State.

“I am happy that we can find in this Bank a reliable ally towards driving our agribusiness Development Plan (ADAS) which is aimed at unlocking the rich agricultural and livestock resources of the State.

“Skeptics have pronounced the programme dead on arrival because they were either ignorant of how it will work or have refused to see reason with this administration on the viability of the development plan which will increase our Internally Generated Revenue to a whooping Forty-Five Billion Naira per annum in the next Ten years, besides empowering homes and making farmers self-reliant.

“Let me ones more appreciate the principal shareholder and the Board of Directors for keeping faith with us. It shows you have an interest in boosting the economy of Adamawa State. If Adamawa is not peaceful today, you would not have put up this beautiful edifice which is the corporate headquarters of the Bank.

“I am particularly happy that the Bank has introduced 21st-century innovations in the industry that will help in reaching the unbanked population and to drive financial inclusion in the rural areas as a Bank that understands the needs of its clients and I assure you our Government will work with you toward realizing this goal.

“We were not mistaken when we decided to open up our rural communities with the provision of 347 rural roads across the State.”
