Two injured in renewed Ogbe-Ijoh, Aladja crisis

THE long standing boundary dispute between two neighbouring communities in Delta State – Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja – took a dangerous turn and left two people seriously injured at the weekend.
Daily Times gathered from reliable sources that both communities were attacked by some elements from each other almost simultaneously in the wee hours of the day.
No reason was immediately adduced for the attacks.
A source told our correspondent that the assailants believed to be from Ogbe-Ijoh stormed Aladja community as early as 4.30am shooting sporadically even as confused locals took off into the nearby bush in panic.
No hint was given of any casualty recorded from the Aladja side but from the Ogbe-Ijoh axis, it was gathered that just as the brouhaha was ongoing in Aladja a similar scenario was enacted in Ogbe-Ijoh where two people were allegedly injured.
As at press time the situation was still dicey as locals in the two communities count their losses.
However, when contacted, the Public Relation Officer of the state Police Command, Andrew Aniamaka, said that the situation has been put under control by the police.
