Two brothers, others arrested for robbery attack on Customs officers

Two brothers and three others have been arrested by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector General of Police, Idri Ibrahim for their alleged involvement in the robbery attack on two customs officers in Lagos.
The suspects, Rasak Lawal,22, Hammed Lawal, 24,said to be the gang leader, Olanrewaju Wasiu,29, a notorious eye confraternity member, Kenneth Ohmai, 39 and Ibrahim Aliu, 26, were alleged to have dispossessed the customs officers of their vehicles and other valuables at gun point at Badagry/ Seme area of Lagos in January, 2017.
In a statement by the Leader of IRT, Abbah Kyari, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, made available to our correspondent, the victims Garuba usman and Akubo Ibrahim, were said to have been attacked on 1st January and 5th January 2017 respectively and dispossessed of their 2006 Toyota corolla and Lexus 350 jeep and other valuables at about 1.00am.
Following a directive by the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, a massive manhunt was launched on the armed robbers and the unrelenting efforts of the cops led to the arrest of the suspects.
The Lawal brothers, who hailed from Lalate area of Oyo state, were said to have just been released from Agodi prison for committing similar offence, while the duo of Olanrewaju Wasiu and Ibrahim Aliu hailed from Ilorin and Omuaran in Kwara state respectively, with Kenneth Ohmai from Benin, Edo state.
According to the release, one AK 47, one locally made single barrel pistol, one locally made double barrel pistol, four AK47 riffle magazines, with 48 live ammunitions and one berretta pistol magazine with 10 rounds live 9mm ammunitions were recovered from the gang.
The suspects were said to have confessed to the robbery attack on Garuba Babayaro and Akubo Idris respectively and several armed robbery attacks in Badagry/ seme area.
The release added that the team has commenced serious efforts to arrest other fleeing gang members in progress.
