Trump, Buhari Speak On Economy, Herdsmen Killing In Joint Press Briefing

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and his United States counterpart Donald Trump just finished a joint press statement in which the two leaders brief world media on various issues including deepening of trade and Military Corporation. It is the first meeting Trump has had with an African president since he assumed office 2017.

At the conference, President Trump commended the Nigerian leader for efforts in the fight against corruption as well as improvement in trade by the two countries, pledging that US further substantial investment by his country ” if Nigeria could implement a “level-playing field that we asked for,” Trump added.

While also commending Buhari for moves made to release some adopted school girls in Dapchi, the US President urged more actions to end killing by herdsmen across central Nigeria.

In turn, Buhari commended Trump for his leadership role in working out a final solution to the decades-long stalemate between North Korea and South Korea and assured that the remaining Chibok and Dapchi girls will be released as well as killing in some parts of the country.

According to Buhari, agriculture, food security, power and infrastructure are some of the areas his administration will focus greater attention as well as strengthening bilateral relations.
