Tope Oshin names latest project ‘Amaka’s Kin-The Women of Nollywood

Filmmaker, Tope Oshin has announced her latest film project and 1st documentary titled “Amaka’s Kin – The Women of Nollywood in honour of late Nigerian legendary filmmaker, Amaka Igwe.
According to Tope, the documentary x-rays the journey and challenges of female directors working within the Nigerian Motion Picture Industry popularly known as Nollywood.
The documentary examines the careers of the very few female directors practicing in the very male dominated Nigerian film industry; their journey and pain, their joys and the challenges and hurdles they had to jump to become directors of film.
Referencing to the life and art of the late Amaka Igwe, who inspired and encouraged many female directors, the documentary carries the voices and thoughts of prominent and practicing female directors in Nigeria, and also examines how contemporary filmmakers are encouraging the next generation of filmmakers and the future while overcoming the odds.
Written, directed and produced by Tope Oshin, cinematography is by Segun Adekoya, Ema Edosio, Ebenezer Sogo and Ade Oshin. Edited by Ade Oshin, music score and sound design is by Truth. The star studded documentary features Omoni Oboli, Blessing Effiom Egbe, Pat Oghre Imobhio, Jadesola Osiberu, Adeola Osunkojo, Dolapo Lowladee Adeleke,Mildred Okwo, Michelle Bello, Stephanie Linus, , Belinda Yanga Agedah, Ema Edosio and Tope Oshin.
