Thugs Attack Mother Of Former Deputy Governorship Aspirant

About five gunmen, alleged to be political thugs, attacked the family residence of a former Deputy Governorship and House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of New Nigeria People Party(NNPP), Osazee Clem Osayomore on January 5, 2025.

The gunmen, according to report, had feelers that Clem, who have been on the radar of government and some stalwarts of the All Progressives Party (APC), over allegations of bribery and electoral fraud he levelled against the party, is presently around and working against APC in the recent election.

During the 2020 Edo State Governorship elections, Clem has accused them of electoral malpractices, bribery and vote buying. He also threatened that he has evidence that will nail the party (APC) in any court of law.

A party stalwart and leader of the APC in the area, Lucky Edosomwan (aka One Man Squad), uncle to one late Mr Osas Edosomwan, a teacher at Wind of Change Educational school, Benin City has accused the owner of the school, Deborah Osayomore of being involved in Osas death.

The accusations led to the destruction of the school and death threats were issued to Deborah and her family.

He also reported Clem to the police and party hierarchy, warning that if Clem is not stopped, he will put the party into bigger problem.

Arising from the warning in October, 2023, armed gunmen first went to Clems mother’s house searching for him.

In 2020 He was caught and given the beating of his life and was told to return the incriminating evidence in his possession or he will be killed, he was arrested and put in police custody before the October 2020 EndSARS protest) where he managed to escape.

He was arrested and brutalized by the government (due to false accusations from the APC.

This latest attack by the gunmen, was as a result of information they heard that Clem, who has not been seen since 2023 was around and that he might submit these evidence and the new ones that are related to the Edo State Governorship elections that took place on September 2024 to the Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Benin City.

The gunmen brutalized Clem’s mother and some other relatives. Warning of dire consequences if Clem did not retraced his steps.

In another development, his party, New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) have distance themselves from the activities of Clem as they say he is not working and acting for them. They also issued a disclaimer to that effect.

As at the time of writing this report the whereabouts of Osazee Clem Osayomore is still unknown.
