The pandemic forced many businesses to diversify and to explore new and innovative ways of doing things – ERIKA ‘PR DIva’ ENYOLU

Born in Ottawa, Canada on 1st October 1985 to Uga, Anambra state, Nigerian parents, Erika Enyolu aka The “PR DIVA” is a public relations executive, event producer, investor, philanthropist and serial entrepreneur.

She is the founder of PR Diva Communications and Co-Founder, of When Fashion Meets (WFM) an International Fashion Networking & Brand Launch platform. She is also Managing Partner/Head of PR & Media Relations for African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT).

After graduating university Erika interned for several years at various entertainment brands to gain hands on experience. Her first corporate job was at one of Canada’s biggest TV station’s and following that she was hired as a Marketing Manager for Canada’s Ieading engineering company. With all those experiences plus her educational background in PR & Events she set out to launch her own company.

After a couple of years working for others Erika quit her steady corporate job with no savings, no clients and literally no plan to start her own brand. “I freelanced here and there but never thought I could actually start my own business, but while scared I still took a leap of faith.

It wasn’t easy but I kept praying and focused on my goal” she said. I majored in Communications & Media Studies and while in school, I assisted with hosting some of the University’s biggest events at the time.

I also interned and volunteered as much as I could in entertainment spaces after University while having my corporate roles so with my hands on experiences combined with those skills I figured it was time to pursue a career in the PR industry and finally work for myself and create a legacy.

“My agency’s mission is to take your brand to the next level” Erika says. My company creates and manages strategic public relations & marketing campaigns in order to increase positive publicity and strengthen brand partnerships for our clientele.

PR Diva Communications specializes in entertainment, music, fashion & lifestyle. We work with award-winning fashion brands, artists, celebrities, influencers, public figures, corporations, startups and high-profile events across Nigeria, Canada, USA & internationally.

“Your network is your net worth” so every entrepreneur needs to align themselves with the right people to really go far. There are lots of opportunities out there but first you have to discover what you are most passionate about and where you can make the most impact with your business and pursue it diligently.

Always remember to start your business for the passion not the pay cheque. The passion is what will keep you going during the difficult times.

The pandemic has humbled everybody and every business owner even the biggest corporate giants. “The pandemic taught me that tomorrow isn’t promised and to always make the best of what I have.

I was used to doing live events, festivals, concerts, press conferences and press tours but everything got cancelled” she says. However, it has also forced many businesses to diversify and to explore new and innovative ways of doing things.
