The billionaire who may be Ogun State governor from May 29

Although the overall result of the Ogun State governorship election is still being awaited, indications are strong that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun is likely to emerge the winner.
The announcement of his victory in the polling unit where he voted raised wide jubilation, even as yet-to-be-announced results from across the state give clear reasons to believe his imminent triumph.
He voted at Ita-Osanyin, Iperu Remo and polled 240 votes to defeat the APM candidate, Abiodun Akinlade, who polled 71 votes, while PDP’s Buruji Kashamu polled five votes.
Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, 59, is the son of Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun, university lecturer and Mrs. Victoria Abiodun, teacher and educationist, of Iperu Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
An accomplished and shrewd businessman, Dr. Abiodun has investment interest in many sectors of the economy including the downstream area of the petroleum industry where his company Heyden Oil & Gas Limited is a big-time player as well as the energy sector.
His firm, First Power, is the first indigenous power generating plant in Nigeria.
Apart from running many successful businesses of his own, Dr. Dapo Abiodun has served as Chairman of a top Federal Government agency, the Chairman of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as well as, Member of the Presidential Think Tank- 2001, Chairman, Oil and Gas Committee in Ogun State.
He has been bestowed with different honorary degrees including Doctor of Finance (Honorary Causa) by the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti and Doctor in Business Administration (Honorary Causa) by the Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria, the Federal Government in 2014 decorated him as Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR).
Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun is not a neophyte in politics as he contested for the Senate in 2015. A successful businessman and billionaire, he possesses vast experiences in management of board rooms, both in the private and public organizations.
