Taraba commissioner steals govt vehicle, to face criminal charges in court

Tom Garba, Yola

Taraba State Commissioner of Commerce trade and investment will soon face the wrath of the law over criminal breach of trust and what Mallam Abdulmulmuni Imam described as stealing under the pretense of auction.

He said Honourable Yusuf Tanimu Njeke obtained fake documents of Government vehicles and without following due process disbursed the car at the cost of five million, five hundred thousand nairas (N5,500,000).

The commissioner and his accomplices contacted one Alhaji Nuhu Mai Harka who is into oil and gas that there are cars to be sold through the government auction policy.

One of the cars was paid and transported to Yola, Adamawa state by Nuhu but unfortunately for Honourable Yusuf alarm was blown out against him that he sold out government property, and arrests were made to all accomplices.

Imam worried over the Njeke unwise decision to have auctioned the cars with fake documents and without consulting his principal, Governor Darius Ishaku.

According to him, he had a one on one conversation with the Governor who said is ignorant of Yusuf’s criminal behavior on the matter last Wednesday and was not happy about it.

“The Governor would have fired him but because of political reasons he recanted but he sought for a court order and brought back the cars and immediately instructed the commissioner to find ways to pay back their money,” Imam saidImam who is a direct victim of Yusuf’s behavior said they have filed a criminal complaint with their lawyer and head to court for redress to make sure that their money is being retrieved

“Right now as I’m talking to you if the police didn’t pick him up today (Saturday) they will pick him tomorrow because the commissioner of police in Taraba has given the endorsement of his arrest alongside his accomplices Kabiru Chadiri.

He however said the Executive Governor of Taraba is unaware of the shoddy deals in the ministry perpetrated by the Commissioner and he has ordered for the vehicle to be taken back to the government lodge in Jalingo through a court order.

“In all honesty, the Governor is not aware of the Governor would say the commissioner should go and face the wrath of the law after I have contacted him of our intentions of going to court.

“I don’t think the commissioner sold out the government vehicle with the knowledge of the governor if Darius said he is fine for Justice to find it course on this matter

“What the commissioner did is more of a scam, he faked all the documents and illegally auctioned out the vehicles.

After our discussion with the police commissioner that Yusuf promised to return the money in ten days, but we are getting to two months now he did not return the money.

“The commissioner is a thief, he has sold off government property without the knowledge of the Governor or the head of civil service, he did that at his discretion without express approval from his superior.
