Suspected thugs strip woman in purdah naked during campaign rally

Some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs on the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, attacked a woman in purdah and stripped her naked in the process, on Tuesday.
The suspected political thugs, led by two popular APC supporters called identified as “Skingy” and “Alagira”, allegedly descended on the commercial motorcyclists popularly called “okada rider”, beating him and his passenger, the woman in purdah, to a pulp.
It was gathered that the woman, identified as Mrs. Hamdalat Ayinde had boarded the okada from the Federal Medical Center, Idi – Aba, Abeokuta before when she ran into the APC campaign train around Saje area of Abeokuta metropolis in the state capital.
Sources at the scene of the attack in Saje area, told newsmen that Mrs. Ayinde was on her way to source for money elsewhere to enable her retrieve the corpse of her daughter, Barakat who died earlier in the day at FMC.
The victim’s husband, Alhaji Abdul – Akeem Ayinde who spoke with journalists yesterday in Abeokuta on phone explained that himself and his wife were on their separate ways to source for the sum of N116, 000 charged by the FMC management before the hospital could release the remains of their daughter who died of typhoid in the hospital before he was informed of the incident.
“On getting to Saje, she has been harassed and we met her naked and we couldn’t approach the thugs because they were armed with cutlass. Some of the thugs later escaped in a jeep and we were able to dispossessed one of them and took him to the police station. But to our dismay, the other guys later appeared in the police station and they were all released”.
Alhaji Ayinde further explained that two of his colleagues; Hazzan Adedamola and one Nafiu were also attacked on getting to the scene while their Okada was also destroyed.
Ayinde explained that while her wife was hospitalized in another hospital, the remains of her daughter were still being held at the FMC.
Ogun State Police Command’s Acting Public Relations Officer (APPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and explained that the matter was being addressed amicably.
He explained that the offense was bailable, stressing that the suspects could still be charged to court if the amicable resolution fails.
