Support govt to end recession – Broker

President of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Mr Kayode Okunoren, has urged Nigerians to support President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration to revitalise the economy.
Okunoren made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
According to him, Nigeria is getting out of hardship but needs patience and full cooperation of Nigerians for a full recovery.
The NCRIB boss said that the Economic Growth Recovery Plan (EGRP) blueprint initiated by the Buhari administration was laudable and realisable, with understanding and full support of stakeholders.
He said: “Obviously, this is not the best time for us; it is natural that the patience of citizens could be tasked.
“However, we need to cooperate with the Buhari’s administration in ensuring total revival of our economy.
“It is also the responsibility of the leaders to live by example and ensure that their lifestyles conform to what they are preaching in order to get the desired support from followers.’’
He urged the Federal Government to be committed to providing affordable housing, good road networks, steady electricity and other social amenities.
Okunoren also called on the government to construct more healthcare centres, saying that many communities still lacked them.
According to him, brokers will ensure that a large percentage of Nigerians have access to insurance by bringing affordable products to their doorsteps.
“There is dearth of brokers in Nigeria; there are only 500 brokers serving the whole country.
“Assuming a broker is attached to one local government, some local governments will not have any broker to bring insurance products to them,’’ he claimed.
Okunoren urged Nigerians to buy insurance policies to mitigate the effects of economic recession on them.
