STF arrests 4 cultists, seizes 50 weapons

Four out of numerous notorious Hausa gangsters unleashing havoc in Jos, Plateau State, was yesterday paraded at the Headquarters of the Special Task Force (STF), in Jos.

The cultists, popularly known as Sara-Suka in Hausa (Cut and Kill boys), have been terrorizing the city of Jos in recent time with specialty in using locally made weapons to unleash terror on their victims.

The young boys within the ages of 15 and 20 years, told our correspondent that they engaged in different criminal activities across the state such as abduction, rape, extortion and burglary.

Speaking to journalists, the STF Commander, Major General Ibe Rogers Nicholas, said the command also arrested 11 suspected criminals that included six suspects carrying rifles and has also seized over 50 weapons in May, 2017.

General Nicholas also said seven suspected criminals were killed during recovery of the weapons because the hoodlums engaged the troops of the command.

“As you will recall we were in the bush for Operation Harbin Kunama II exercise, and because of this operation we were able to make the arrest of the suspected criminals and recovery of the arms.”

Nicholas employed the general public to give the security personnel strategic information as to where some of the criminals were keeping their weapons to enable appropriate action to be taken.

Daily Times can report that the rifles recovered include seven automatic guns, 17 pistols and other locally made guns.
