South-South Governors want 10% appropriated to oil-producing communities in PIB

Governors of the South-South geo-political zone want the National Assembly to increase the provision in the Host Community Fund as contained in the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) from five percent to ten percent

Speaking after a brief meeting held ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party Zonal Congress in Port Harcourt, the Governors while welcoming the establishment of a Host Community Trust Fund argue that the communities have a role to play especially in the area of surveillance of oil facilities and petroleum pipelines.

The South-South Governors say they also discussed the issue of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
