SON positions for more efficient service delivery

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in a bid to strengthen service delivery to Nigerians and the international community has constituted a Service Compact with Nigerians (SERVICOM) implementation committee for the Organisation.

During its inauguration, the Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Osita Aboloma charged the committee to signify the compliance of the Organisation to the SERVICOM charter.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, Mr. Aboloma stated that “SON renders various services to the general public under the Standardization umbrella which has amplified the need for a SERVICOM implementation committee.”

According to him, SON subscribes fully to the tenets of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Standards which in itself is a globally recognized mechanism for effective service delivery.

He stated that the SERVICOM charter will be fully implemented by SON, “to guarantee improved services to the Nation.”

The DG charged the newly inaugurated Committee to ensure that all staff of SON subscribe to the laudable initiative to further improve the lives of Nigerians through Standards and Quality Assurance. According to him, SON management will not tolerate shoddy service delivery by staff.

Mr. Aboloma urged all hands to be on deck in order to ensure effective implementation of its service compact with the Nation.

Also speaking at the occasion, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli acknowledged the importance of setting up SERVICOM implementation modalities in SON as one the foremost government Organisation’s offering services to the Nation.

She congratulated SON for signing up to a service compact with Nigerians in carrying out services to the satisfaction of the general public.

Mrs. Akajemeli then decorated the DG SON as a SERVICOM ambassador and presented literatures to signify the commencement of SERVICOM activities in the organization.

The committee is chaired by the Head of Library Services, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi as Nodal Officer with membership drawn from various departments for effective implementation.

SERVICOM was establish by the Federal government to give Nigerians the right to demand good services, and report to government, the inadequacies of Minisrty’s, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to provide timely requested services.
