SKILLS ACQUISITIONS IS A CONCERTED EFFORT TO FIGHT POVERTY-GOV JIBRILLA

His excellency,the executive of Adamawa State, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrila Bindow said the training of hundreds Youths in the state into various skills acquisitions is aim at fighting the scourge of poverty and is calling on concerted support from stakeholders and well meaning individuals in the state to key in the vision of his administration.
According to him the skills acquisition Centres are reactivated to provide skills and starter packs to graduates so as to provide jobs for the youths and those they will employ to work with after graduation,of recent his administration graduated about 500 youths from the skills acquisition Centre in Yola after training in various trades.
Bindow made the call in a press statement signed by his special assistant on Press and Media Affairs, Martins Dickson to mark this year’s international day for the eradication of poverty with the theme: “Answering the call of October 17 to end poverty: A path towards peaceful and inclusive societies”.
Bindow stated that the scourge of poverty has gotten to a threshold where every person needs to make a commitment to contribute their quota in order to achieve the desired result.
According to Senator Bindow, “the recent insurgency attacks and clashes have further impoverished our people and placed them at a position of disadvantage, as they were ripped off of their businesses, farmlands and trade.”
Senator Bindow further expressed his administration’s gratitude to the Buhari-led government and the Nigerian armed forces for the defeat of Boko Haram.
He maintained that the successes achieved has restored relative peace to communities, farmers are going back to farm and businesses are picking up.
“Every little effort, a small act of kindness and a commitment to ensure that our friends and neighbors do not lack in necessities of life will go a long way to make a difference, remember little drops of water could make an ocean”, Bindow said.
The statement added that the Adamawa State government has taken deliberate steps in ensuring that Adamawa people receive help for a better life hence, the provision of hundreds of tractors and farm implements which farmers all over the state could access at subsidized rates to boost agricultural production which is the major occupation of the people.
“Just yesterday, we kick started the schools feeding program in the state so as to encourage primary school pupils to attend school.
This will go a long way in increasing primary school enrollment and in the long run empower our children and end poverty and lack in their lives as they acquire knowledge and become self sufficient”, senator Bindow said.
He maintained that all the programs of Government is aimed at helping the people to have an easy life and boost their capacity to provide for themselves and others in the society.
“That is why we are opening up rural communities and connecting them with cities by providing rural roads for our rural dwellers to evacuate their farm produce and other products to larger markets”, he stated.
He further stressed that his Government is also ensuring that the hospitals are functional to keep all citizens healthy and productive, this is in addition to having a vibrant primary Health Care system.
He said:”we recognized the urgent need to fight the scourge of poverty in communities and that is why we are using this day to call on Adamawa people to support the Government in ending extreme poverty in our state.
We also call on the rich in Adamawa state to help provide jobs for our people by setting up local industries and businesses in the state.”
