Sen Orji returns to senate with 25,601 margin

The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Sen. Theodore Ahamefule Orji, this afternoon was declared winner of 2019 senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Umuahia. Sen. Orji, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 55,461 votes to win his closest rival, Nkechi Nwaogu of the All Progressive Alliance (APC) who polled 29860. Chidi Ajaegbu of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with 19534 votes. A closer look at the results showed that in Ikwuano LGA, PDP polled 6052, APC polled 3948 votes. Others are Isialangwa North, PDP – 11334, APC – 3179. Isialangwa South, PDP – 10514, APC – 3378. Osisioma, PDP – 5849, APC – 2086. Umuahia North, PDP – 13930, APC – 11884 and Umuahia South, PDP – 7782, APC, 5305. The result was announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Yusuf Ndukaku O. who also declared Sen. Orji as the winner. Similarly, an incumbent, Chief Sam Onuigbo of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency won on the platform of PDP by polling 30669 votes to win Ikechukwu Apugo of APC who polled 23279 and MacDonald Uba of APGA who polled 10312. Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi therefore declared Hon Onuigbo Sam as the winner. Following these results therefore, the entire senatorial district went frenzy with wide jubilation.
