Sen. Orji holds one day summit for constituency youths

The Senator representing Abia State Central zone, Sen. Theodore Ahamefula Orji, has enjoined youths in his constituency and the state at large, especially at the various Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) levels to maximize their energy for the good of themselves and the party.

Sen. Orji made the call during a one-day summit he organised for them in Umuahia, stating that the event was organised to foster unity among the youths as indispensable stakeholders in the polity.

Represented by his Chief Liaison officer, Ifeanyi Umere, Sen. Orji assured that the he will not relent in empowering those of them from his constituency.

Speaking at the event which provided the opportunity for the youths drawn from the zone to ask questions on some issues concerning them, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, emphasised on the need for the youths to cultivate positive attitude to enable them attain greater height and the for the youths to engage their energy towards those things that will engender the development of the society, rather than allowing themselves to be used by those who do not mean well for them.

In a brief lecture titled, “Positive Youths, Positive Leadership”, the Speaker urged the youths to cultivate the leadership attitude that will make them not to be intimidated with money as future leaders, stating: “As you go into 2019 elections, you should not be intimidated with money as future leaders.

The youths are the biggest stakeholders in this country, while all about Abia should be uppermost in your mind.

It is incumbent for you to select people who have been tried, tested and have all it takes to be voted in for your future. Recession is not positive, but economic challenges, but once you begin to bow to it, you are finished”.

According to him, the 2019 general election is around the corner, and the election depends on the youths, while it is the time to reorganise themselves as the biggest stakeholders in the political arena.

In their separate speeches, the Umuahia North LGA chairman, Chidiebere Nwachuwhu, Isiala Ngwa South LGA Chairman, Ifeanyi isikaku, state PDP youth Chairman, David Iro, state chairman, National Youth Council, Chidiebere Kalu, immediate past Commissioner for Trade and Industry, Henry Ikoh and Iyke Anyatuonwu, commended Sen.  Orji for organising the event which they said will impact positively on youths in the zone and in the state.

The youths during the occasion expressed their opinion that they should be encouraged, pointing out that even at the councillorship levels in the LGA, most councillors are elderly people, while the active ingredients at any election which are them have been ignored and side tracked.
