Don’t sell Christians for political gains CAN warn SGF

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), today warn the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Mr. Babachir Lawal, not to sell Christians to score cheep political gains.
The warning came as a result of his misleading claim that Christians are fueling rumors about President Buharis’ health.
Speaking through the President, Youth Wing of Christian Association Of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Engr. Daniel David Kadzai said that the SGF did not need to sell his people of same faith just because he wants to be in the good books of the president after being accused of financial scam.
Recall that the SGF during a Prayer Convocation for Nigeria on Mount Zion, Jerusalem, to conclude the 2016 pilgrimage, recently, accused the Church for fueling rumours about President Muhammadu Buhari’s health on social media.
Lawal also in a statement issued by the Head of Media, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), warned Christians to desist from what he described as “pull him down syndrome.”
However, also recall that the same SGF when he was accused by the National Assembly for allegedly contravening the provisions of the
Public Procurement Act, 2007, and the Federal Government Financial Rules and Regulations on the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on North-East, said that he was being witch hunted because of his faith as a Christian, CAN said.
Kadzai said that lying against his own faith will definitely attract the wrath of God on him, unless he apologies to the Church and seek God’s forgiveness.
Kadzai in a statement signed in Abuja and made available to our correspondent in Jos, said Babachir should not be deceived by his current position to equate himself as spiritual leader, adding that he had no authority to speak for Christians in the country.
“We wish to state categorically that the SGF, Mr. Babachir has no ecclesiastical authority to speak for his Church (ECWA), or the Christian community; let him not be deceived by his position in government as equal to a spiritual leader speaking for the Christians.
“Though the Church or Christian leadership may out of grace not excommunicate the SGF, the entire Christian youths frown at and
dissociate themselves from the misleading claims by the SGF that, Christians are fueling rumors about President Buharis’ health.
“The SGF does not need to play to the gallery in pleasing his mentors and political sponsors by denying his kit and kin’s of same faith.
“Christians must not be taken for granted; for the benefit of doubt, it might interest Mr. Babachir and his likes to know that ALL Christian leaders, Churches, Ministries and Para-Church organisations have been praying for the health of Mr. President (Buhari) both in Sunday worship services, midweek fellowships and night vigil worships.
“We wonder what the SGF, Mr. Babachir seeks to achieve by claiming that Christians are responsible for fueling the rumours concerning Mr. Presidents’ health? Babachir as a Christian knows the Bible instructs Christians, “…to pray for ALL those in position of authority”.
“Let us remind the SGF that ours is not a religion that imposes leadership or compulsive followership and that “he that troubleth His house shall inherit winds” (Prov.11:29)”.
However, the CAN youth President has also warn those casting aspersion on Apostle Johnson Suleman to refrain from doing so, saying that the Apostle is being attack after his out cry on the Southern Kaduna killing of which he also accused Fulani bandits for planning to kill him.
“The conspiracy to smear our Clerics will no longer be tolerated no matter the personality.
“Recently haven fail in mission to humiliate Apostle Johnson Suleman, some evil conspirators cooked a defamatory story against the Apostle to pull down his Ministry; to God be the Glory, they have been put to shame.
“Stephanie Otobo the lady who allegedly spoke in a video for having affair with Apostle Suleman, has come out with her family to deny ever meeting with the Apostle”, Kadzai said.
