Second term: Obiano will win in Ogbunike if… APGA chieftain

As the year draws closer, some political parties in Anambra State have started crossing the Ts and dotting the Is and convening meetings to consolidate their parties’ for 2017 governorship election in the state.

A grassroot mobiliser in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr Chekwube Ikpeogu, disclosed the level of their preparation and strength of their vote for the next year’s election.

Mr Ikpeogu while addressing some journalists stated that the present administration had taken governance to global standard, different from what the state experienced in the past.

He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his doggedness in maintaining law and order in the state, especially in his fight against crime and criminality, adding that the state had been adjudged the fastest state in the country.

Mr Ikpeogu, who hails from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the state said Ogbunike people had benefited immensely from Governor Obiano’s administration in the areas of political appointments, through which some young men and women were gainfully mobilized in different skills of livelihood.

He regretted that some family in Ogbunike had mapped out plans to hijack APGA platform and activities as their personal party, in addition to their regular threat they melt on people, calling on the peace loving Governor to intervene and caution them to desist from such act as it would Mar the integrity of the community.

The stakeholder also bemoaned that some political appointees in Ogbunike had never identified with APGA parties and wards in the town, saying the essence of such appointment was to represent the governor in the grassroots, by disseminating the good works of the present administration to peoples’ doorstep and hard to reach areas.

He advised the political appointees to look beyond their personal aggrandizement and work devotedly to promote the present government that had no rival for second term bid.

Mr Ikpeogu commended the efforts of some government functionaries in Oyi and Ogbunike such as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon Uche Okafor, Special Assistant to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon Okey Anyanyo, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Hon Azubike Ekwegba, and the Special Assistant to governor on Community Mobilization, Mr Samuel Odinye, saying they had empowered many youth in Ogbunike and beyond and had shown unprecedented representation in the community.

He however urged Governor Obiano to equally remember the efforts of some grassroots politicians who had contributed to the growth of APGA in Ogbunike, some of them include the Former Senior Special Assistant on Projects Monitoring, Mrs Chinelo Offochie, Frank Okonkwo, Victor Oge Obi and himself.
