Sanwo-Olu Has Awe-Inspiring Manifesto for Educational Development in Lagos state- Orisadare Bilkis Wonuola

A Lagos based social critic, Orisadare Bilkis Wonuola has shared her view about the educational policy of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for 2019 gubernatorial elections in Lagos state.

In her words, Orisadare Bilkis Wonuola, said she is pleased with the captivating manifesto of the APC governorship candidate with regards to the development of education in Lagos state.

“The importance of education cannot be over-emphasized and it takes an administrator with foresight, a person of virtue and substance, a competent individual with integrity, knowledge and focus, to drive the development of education in Lagos to a higher height.

One distinguished personality that has these attributes is Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He is capable, forward-thinking, knowledgeable and reliable. It is not a surprise at all that APC fields him as the party gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State.

Speaking further, the lady said, she had no doubt at the back of her mind that Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government, when elected, will adopt a globally recognized modern STEM system of educational in its curriculum.

STEM, according to her is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

“This is the best way to facilitate practical education and develop students’ talents and potentials. STEM teachers, i am sure will be employed across the state and will be equipped with adequate teaching materials.”

She said in Sanwo-Olu’s effort to ensure practical education, he promised to make available three hundred fully equipped and functional computer laboratories to be established in all the secondary schools in Lagos.

He also plans to establish After-School Study Halls across the state where volunteer tutors will prepare students for major exams such as JSSCE, WAEC, and JAMB. What else could be more practical than this gesture, said Orisadare Bilkis.

Commenting further on Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s promise to increase Lagos State budgetary allocation of education from 12.07% to 18% when elected.

This, she said is what to expect from someone who truly values education and therefore knows that the sector needs improved financial attention.

“It is therefore, also not surprising that his educational policy also includes facilitating school rehabilitation programs to revive dilapidated schools and provide necessary learning tools for the public schools in Lagos.”

She reiterated that in order to ensure sustainability and continuity in the state; the government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu will adopt an efficient long term maintenance culture on all the educational infrastructures provided in the entire fifty-seven LCDAs of the state.

“In the next few years, I am sure that many other states in Nigeria will emulate Lagos State STEM system of education.

“It is so evident that globally recognized practical approach to education is well captured in the manifesto of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. That is why it attracts appraisal and thus earns endorsement.

His plans are not mere political promises; they are proposed educational development policies of a trusted individual to make Lagos state re-defines its trademark as the true centre of excellence.

For this reason and many more, I wish him victory in the gubernatorial race as well as successful implementation of his manifesto when he becomes the Lagos State Governor”, said Orisadare Bilkis Wonuola
