Same Sex relationship: two young men face criminal proceedings, others on the run

The police in Lagos have declared two young men wanted over their alleged involvement in homosexuality in the Victoria Island/Lekki area of the State.

The young men whose names were given as Toheeb Ogundele and Sunday Olushola Ajibade are said to have been practicing bisexual act with one of the culprits before now.

The duo were named by two gay lovers Omotolani Salami (m) and Idris Muyiwa(m) who were caught in the illicit sex escapade in a parked vehicle on January 7, 2025 in Victoria Island axis at 4 am.

Both men witnesses said were returning from the club where they had gone the previous evening to unwind before they ended up in a sex rump that landed them in trouble.

Now facing criminal prosecution in court, both Omotolani Salami(m) and Idris Muyiwa(m) were said to have confessed to the police with evidence of having multiple gay partners on their phones.

Some of the partners include Toheeb Ogundele(m), Sunday Olushola Ajibade(m) and others now on the run for fear of being arrested and presecuted.

Same Sex relationship has been criminalized in Nigeria with the enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013. Offenders are liable to jail terms ranging from 3 years to 14 years imprisonment if found guilty. Sharia law prescribes death penalty.

Investigation is also going on, regarding the concerned club/s, that runs such business publicly or secretly in the area of lekki,ikoyi, victoria island and at large. The law must take its place accordingly after the Investigation.

“Further investigation revealed that Omotolani’s previous relationship was with one Toheeb Ogundele who lived in Agungi and one Sunday Olushola Ajibade who lives in Idimu-alimosho axis with some evidences on his phone.

“Effort to arrest Toheeb Ogundele(m) and Sunday Olushola Ajibade(m) for also practicing same sex relationship with Omotolani has proved abortive. Anyone who knows their whereabouts should kindly report to the nearest police station for arrest and prosecution accordingly.

“We are committed to continue to guard against any illegal act in the country and bring offenders to book. Investigations are still ongoing”, the police said this in a statement.
