RUMOURS: PSG willing to pay Neymar’s release clause, but not his £40m debt

The Barcelona forward could have swapped Camp Nou for Parc des Princes in the summer, but the French champions baulked at the Brazilian’s demands
Paris Saint-Germain were prepared to fork out Neymar’s full £170 million release clause in the summer, but refused to cover the Brazilian’s £40m worth of debt, L‘Equipe reports.
The former Selecao captain has been embroiled in a tax avoidance case since his move to Barcelona and saw vast quantities of his assets frozen by authorities.
It is said that Neymar demanded a salary of £22m per year, but also asked that the French champions settle his debts if they were serious about bringing him to Parc des Princes.
With PSG having refused, the Brazilian committed his future to Barcelona with a five-year deal.
