Rivers Begins Jubilee Celebrations with Prayers

The Golden Jubilee Celebration of the birth of Rivers state has kicked off with spiritual proclamation led by Christian clerics, traditional rulers and political leaders of the state.

The programme tagged Jubilee Prayer Banquet, had as its theme: ‘Rivers Jubilee Proclamation: Announcing our liberty.’

Led by three leading clerics, Apostle Emmanuel Kure of the Throne-room Ministry, Pastor David Ibiyeomie of the Salvation Ministries and Dr. Steve Ogan of the High Calling Outreach, the Christian community dedicated the state to God.

The Christian leaders and traditional rulers offered special prayers for Governor Wike, empowering him with God’s strength to lead the state to greater heights after the Rivers Jubilee Proclamation.

The Christian Community also prayed God to dislodge all enemies of the state.

Speaking after the proclamation of the Golden Jubilee, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, urged the Christian community to always uphold the state in prayers.

He assured the people of the state that he will continue to provide God-fearing leadership for the people of the state, using the resources of the people to develop their communities.

Governor Wike informed the Christian Leaders that the State Ecumenical Centre aimed at promoting Christian unity will be commissioned by the end of May.

Wife of the Rivers state governor, Justice Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, said: “I am confident that as these altars, covenants, oaths and sacrifices are made, that the much needed peace and prosperity of Rivers State will indeed become a reality.

“I am confident also that the Almighty God will ride upon our altars to the rivers of the hearts of the sons and daughters of Rivers State to begin to see eye to eye in peace and not in hatred.

She thanked the various prayer groups for uplifting the state through prayers and fasting.

The Jubilee Prayer Banquet was organised by the Rivers Women Jubilee Prayer Network. The programme witnessed praise, worship and prayers. It attracted Christian leaders, women and youths from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
