Restructuring of Nigeria won’t come easy – Falana

Lagos based Lawyer and Human Rights Crusader, Mr Femi Falana (SAN) has said that restructuring of Nigeria will not come so easy, saying it may even require going to war.
Falana who was delivering a lecture titled:”Whither the Nigerian Nation:” to mark the 65th birthday anniversary of the former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Kaka at the weekend said the restructuring of Nigeria will not come easy because those benefiting from the present situation will not allow it.
Falana who said the genesis of the present problem with federalism arose from military incursion into politics, saying seizure of power by the military is a great curse on the Nation.
He said after the military has left governance, the country has not been able to return to its earlier true federalism because those benefiting from the present awkward situation have been resisting it.
“It is going to be difficult to go back to true federalism because most of the state governors don’t believe in federalism,” Falana said.
He said there is the need to gather eminent Lawyers and other experts to look at how the military messed up and created contradiction in the polity and fashion a way forward.
Speaking at the occasion, the celebrant, Senator Adegbenga Kaka who said he decided to use the occasion of his birthday to discuss the future of Nigeria said the whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government should be a patriotic duty and should not attract monetary reward.
