Remove your shanties or risk demolition – OGSWC warns traders

The Ogun State Water Corporation (OGSWC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the traders that own kiosks and shanties around the Water Corporation’s office in Pansheke area of the state, saying that it pose a great threats to the Corporation.

The General Manager of the Corporation, Engr. (Mrs.) Monsurat Agboola, gave the ultimatum while inspecting the Corporation’s office in Abeokuta, adding that mounting of kiosks round the office constituted nuisance and deface the Corporation’s office.

She said that government would not fold its hands and allow any unscrupulous elements to damage/deface the well constructed office in the name of marketing, she ordered them to remove the shanties with immediate effect or risk demolitions of the kiosks.

“We cannot fold our hands and allow unscrupulous element to deface our office in the name of selling markets, it is now imperative to remove it with immediate effect before we get it demolished, we don’t want to clamp down on you but to instruct you to remove it in a matter of urgency”, Agboola said.

Agboola added that provision of potable water for the citizen of the state remains the agency’s priority, as the Corporation would not relent on its oars in the provision of its adequate service for the people, while urging the residents to promptly pay their water bill as and when due.

Meanwhile, The Agura of Gagura, Oba (Dr), Halidu Adedayo Olaloko has hailed the Corporation for its commitment towards provision of adequate potable water supply for the residents of the area, he said despite the fact that massive construction was on going in those areas, the Corporation make it mandatory in providing water for residents of the areas.

Oba Olaloko, who was represented by the Jaguna Offa, Chief (Engr), Abiodun Adenekan stated this at his palace while playing host to the team of the Corporation led by the General Manager, Engr. (Mrs) Monsurat Agboola in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Oba Olaloko said he was optimistic that the Corporation would do more in the provision of potable water supply for the State as whole, adding that he had confidence in the Agboola-led administration of the state water corporation.

He urged the General Manager to do more within its capacity in the provision of their services for the people, saying that people of the state knowing that the Corporation was doing well in the reposition of the state Water Scheme.

The General Manager, Engr. (Mrs.) Monsurat Agboola appreciated the Oba and his Chiefs for their unflinching support and encouragement towards mission to rebuild the state-led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, while pleading for their prayers in completion of the projects being embarked by the Governor and the Water Corporation at large.
