Redeemed Church Nsukka lauds UNN as Adeboye bags honorary doctorate degree

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide (RCCG) Pastor Enouch Adeboye is to be conferred with honorary doctorate degree at the 46th convocation of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

However Daily Times gathered that the award on Pastor Adeboye will be conferred a week earlier at a Special Convocation Ceremony at Margret Ekpo Convocation Arena on Tuesday, 24 th January 2017.

Adeboye, an alumnus of the University had his B. Sc in Mathematics before the commencement of the Nigerian civil war.

Speaking to Daily Times on the honourary award, the Pastor In-charge of Redeemed Christian Church of God parishes in Nsukka zone, Mr. Favour Ochi applauded University of Nigeria Nsukka for recognizing the numerous contributions of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide to humanity.

Ochi said the conferment of the honorary doctorate degree on Adeboye was an excellent way of rewarding the dedicated, patriotic and God-fearing man.

“We are happy and excited that UNN VC, Senate and the university community deemed it fit to recognize this great and humble man of God who has contributed both materially and spiritually to the development of man mankind.

According to Ochi, the GO after the conferment would hold a prayer rally at the Akanu Ibiam stadium of UNN for both Christians and non-Christians and deliver those under satanic bondage.

“The visit of our spiritual head to Nsukka on Jan 24 is strategic as it will bring more revival to the church and put smiles on the faces of Christians and non- Christians in Enugu state and beyond.

He noted that Nsukka just like in 2011 when the GO visited to make an endowment of a professorial chair to the University is ready to give Pastor Adeboye a rousing reception.

The pastor urged Christians especially redeemed church members to troop out to accord their spiritual head a rousing welcome.

“The GO’s coming means so much to the Christendom because each time a father visits his children they are usually happy. This is why we are happy that his visitation is coming at the beginning of the year.

“We are expectant and ready to tap God’s anointing and we call on other Christians from other denominations to come out and recharge their own spiritual batteries too,” he said.

Also speaking on the GO’s doctorate degree conferment, the Pastor of Glorious Parish Nsukka, Pastor Ikechukwu Obiajunwa describe the award as historic and glorious to the church and the entire body of Christ adding that the award will promote peace and unity in the country.

“I thank God and also the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for the award on Daddy Adeboye, this award is a glorious thing which I believe was divinely arraigned to promote peace and deliver the land of Nsukka”, he said.
