Recession: COCIN President Call On Vigilante To Guard Farms From Thieves

Rev. Datiri stated this at the weekend, at the end of the 91st General Church Council (GCC), held at the COCIN Headquarter in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
He said the present condition in the country has led to increase in crime, which farmers most take steps in protect their crops.
He also called for modest spending among its teeming members, advising them to be wise and prudent.
“I call on our teeming members and Nigerians at large, to be wise and modest in their spending in this present recession, more particularly, restrain from selling off your harvest.
“It will be also very important that farmers organize vigilante groups that will guard their farms from thieves in this recession”, he said.
Addressing other national issues, the COCIN president called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts towards curbing the threats and harassment by the Fulani herdsmen in communities, disturbing innocent farmers.
He also called on the Governors of the Northern States to remove restrictions and obstacles on acquisition of land for Christians to build worship places, while also condemning in strong terms forceful marriage of minors, particularly that of the alleged marriage of the Emir of Katsina to Christian girl-child.
Datiri said that government should strengthen it law against molestation of the girl child, calling for sanction on any community or religious leader that is involved in such barbaric act.
