PTAD: Stakeholders fume over non-release of probe report

Some stakeholders under the auspices of Nigerian Transitional Pension Forum have expressed displeasure over what they described as ‘prolong and deliberate delay’ in the release of the investigative panel report set in February by Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to look into the alleged mismanagement of funds by the suspended Director General of Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
The group, in a communique signed by the President of the forum, Dr. Abdulraman Abubakar and the Secretary Gneral Engr. Obinna Odimegwa, at the end of its meeting over, at weekend, in Abuja, said that the Nigerian public deserved the right to know the findings of the probe panel and the fate of the suspended Nellie Mayshack.
According to the stakeholders, “if the government is honest about its drive for change in Nigeria, then issues of national importance must be treated with justice, tranparency and accountability to give everyone a sense of belonging.”
The forum advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to remove all the bottlenecks associated with delay in payment of pensions and to ensure that only honest and qualified persons are manned to manage the pensions schemes.
It also called on the government especially the Minister of Finance to without further delay publish the report of the investigative panel for prople to know the true position of the issue.
The forum stressed that the government should not shy away from telling the public the truth, adding “if the panel vindicates Mayshack from any wrong doing, then the public should know and she should be allowed to resume back to her position so as to continue with the good work she started in the Directorate.”
The pensioners also declared a vote of confidence on the suspended DG describing her as one of the key agents of change due to the reform programmes she introduced in the pensions system.
