PTAD commended for clearing pension arrears

The Executive Secretary of Pension Transitional Directorate (PTAD), Barr. Sharon Ikeazor has been commended for paying off accumulated arrears of some of pensioners under the directorate.

A retired professor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Olusola Adebajo made the commendation in a letter addressed to the executive secretary of PTAD shortly after receiving payment of his seven years pensions arrears.

The Deputy Director of Communication, Mr Emma Okondo in a statement to The Daily Times on Thursday, said that Prof Adebanjo expressed gratitude and exceeding joy for receiving all his payments previously owed.

Adebanjo was quoted to have said that “a new Nigeria is possible if God gives the nation people with humane and helpful spirit like the Executive Secretary of PTAD Sharon Ikeazor.”

According to Adebanjo, the letter was to thank the PTAD boss, appreciate the good work she is doing and to encourage her to continue with the good work.

He said that he received his arrears of pensions and gratuity locked up for seven years.

Adebanjo, who retired from the university in 2009 as a professor of Yoruba language, wrote the commendation letter from his home in Ago-Iwoye.

Making reference to William Shakespeare, Prof Adebajo described PTAD’s Executive Secretary as “Mrs. Exchequer of the Poor”, and one who deserves gratitude so as to be empowered for future favours for those in need like himself.

He said; “Sharon Ikeazor demonstrated “strong mind, faith, will, honour” and, among those who live above the fog in public duty and private thinking.”

He observed that given the speed with which the PTAD boss resolved his issue, made him to have a new hope for Nigeria adding, “my family will always remember her in prayers.”
