Presidential election: Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership, cause of our problem – Chief Onyemaobi

The 2019 presidential election has come and gone, but an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Abia, Chief Geoffrey Onyemaobi says, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the problem of the people of the south east.
Speaking on the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in his Afara country home, in Umuahia North, he expressed happiness that President Buhari was re-elected, adding that the victory was “a recognition of his (Buhari) efforts to better a lot of the ordinary Nigerians who have been abandoned by past elite government” in Nigeria.
He said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP did not do anything to warrant being called to come and continue with government of the country, adding that the party “squandered our wealth”, asking “where is the oil money?”
“Did they put they put a pole in Igbo land? Yet, Igbos gave President Buhari the mandatory 25% votes he needed”, he said.
Buhari, he said brought an end to the maladministration PDP represents, adding that the president is going to do more, even when Goodluck Jonathan did not do anything in Igbo land.
While thanking the Nigerian masses for re-electing President Buhari, he noted that Ndigbo, through the Ohanaeze Ndigbo spear-headed the merger of south east and south-south against the president, only for the south-south to abandon the south east and did the right thing through massive votes for the president, adding “the president lost in the south east”.
“Those who is not for us, is against us. Tomorrow, the Igbos will say they are marginalized. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has now alienated the south east from the country. Others are running to the centre and we are playing politics of naira and kobo”, he regretted.
Chie Onyemaobi used the opportunity to state that the call by PDP for the cancellation of the presidential election as “that of a drowning political party”.
”They know from inception that they are going to fail, but had not the courage to throw in the towel. Having failed, they have resorted to blackmail. For us who know the politicians and their modus operandi, it was a surprise”.
According to him, there are no plans to Islamize the country, wondering why people should listen to half-baked stories.
On the killings in the middle belt, the APC chieftain disclosed that it was Markurdi that the Igbos returning home during the inception of the civil war that they were massacred, “and nobody cried for us”.
“These people we tend to protect, did they protect us during the civil war? They massacred you. I am surprised when stupid Igbo people say they (middle belt) are being killed. The invasion of Nsukka came from Benue.
“Are the Igbos the only Christians in Nigeria? Christianity started in Yoruba land. So, you people should have your head examined”, he said.
He further said, “I don’t know why since after the war, Ndigbo are not coordinated. Even the middle belt gave Buhari more votes than the south east”, and thanked Abia people for giving the president votes, “at least we had 25%, an increase from what we had in 2015”.
He expressed excitement that the state for now has a senator of then APC extraction, noting that come Saturday, March 16th governorship election, Abian will vote for APC massively “to join the government at the centre”.
He congratulated the Abia Central Senatorial District senator, Theodore Orji, who he said is his brother and the representative of his senatorial zone over his victory at the last senatorial polls, advising, “he has to work harder as people are becoming wiser by the day”.
