Policeman slaps C’ River Commissioner over utterance
Cross River State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong Jnr, was, on Saturday, slapped by a senior police officer over what the policeman said was an unwarranted utterance.
The incident took place at the U. J. Esuene stadium’s gate. The duo had a squabble over the parking space at the stadium.
Ekpenyong was at the gate of the stadium possibly to gain access and participate in the 56 Independence anniversary at the stadium when he was stopped due to none availability of space at the stadium. A little squabble ensued between the Police and the commissioner when the commissioner was told that there was no enough space for him to enter and park his vehicle.
During exchange of hot argument, Ekpenyong was allegedly slapped by the Police Officer, the action the Commissioner considered as out of place and has not taken it kindly. Incidentally, the Police Officer said Ekpenyong abused him by calling him stupid. A source hinted that the Police man did not take the abuse kindly and released a slap on the commissioner.
The Commissioner confirmed that the policeman slapped him when he reported the incident to other senior Police Officers and promised to take the matter up. Interestingly, other Police Officers who were at the scene gave solidarity support to their man.
Disappointingly, Ekpenyong who was not with his security details was seen making frantic phone calls even as he refuses to move his car out of the gate causing disruption of traffic. It took the action of other senior Police Officers to beg the Commissioner to move his car out of the scene.
