Police recover 11 stolen vehicles, arrest 11 armed robbery suspects in Ebonyi

The police in Ebonyi State yesterday recovered 11 stolen vehicles and arrested 11 persons for their alleged involvement in armed robbery, murder, unlawful possession of live cartridges, fraudulent acts and vandalisation of MTN communication equipment in the state.

Disclosing this to journalists at the Command Headquarters in Abakaliki, the State Commissioner of Police, (CP),Titus Lamorde, assured the people of the State that the police in collaboration with other security agencies would continue to fight crimes and criminality in the State, warned criminals to steer clear from Ebonyi State as the state was no longer a safe haven for them to carried their nefarious activities.

Lamorde said:“On 12th December, 2017, at about 1240hrs Sunday Agbo and Odeh Okechukwu were arrested at Water Works Road Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, they defrauded one Chidinma Helen of the sum of two hundred and fifty-six and chukwu Eucharia of Ezzagu the sum of two hundred thousand naira on 7th December, 2017 along St John part, Abakaliki.

“I wish to specifically draw your attention to S/No. 9 (Oliver Adaonu) who specialized in changing chassis/Engine/plate numbers and original colours of stolen/robbed vehicles. He confessed to have changed, over fifty chassis of stolen/robbed vehicles in the South Eastern part of the country

“On 4th December, 2017, Eberechukwu Madujibeya was arrested and could not give satisfactory account of Toyota Camry car. During the search a pair of vehicle plate No. RT. 709 ABC and the documents of the car bearing MRS. MARY SHEDRACK, was found inside the car. The woman was contacted, who confirmed that on 19thNovember, 2017 the car was robbed from her at gunpoint, at Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state. She identified the car and the suspect”.

According to him, 23 locally made pistols, 5 dam guns and one assault berretta rifle, quantities of live ammunition and cartridges of different brands, 2 AK-47 rifles, 4 pump action rifles and some items suspected to be charms were recovered from the suspects.
