Police fire shots in Kano INEC headquarters

Policemen providing security at the Kano state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission fired several shots into the air.

It is not immediately clear why the shots were fired, but an additional detachment of policemen has been sent to complement those on the ground.

The shooting started after the state Police Commissioner, Wakili left a closed-door meeting with the state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Risikuwa Shehu.

Meanwhile, residents are going about their normal business in most parts of the city.
