Police arraigns Senator Adeleke today over criminal charges

The embattled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Osun was , Senator Ademola Adeleke who arrested and detained yesterday will be arraigned in court today.

The Daily Times learnt that acclaimed winner of the 2018 Osun State Governorship Election may be arraigned before a magistrate at the FCT Magistrate Court , Mpape area of the Federal Capital.

Recall the that the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District who had honoured the invitation of the Nigeria Police on Monday was arrested and detained.

While his party, the PDP has kicked against his detention and planned trial, it described the police action as unconstitutional and intimidation on the order of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP spokesperson described the arrest as total disregard for the extant order of the Osun State High Court, Ikirun, issued on Monday, restraining the police or its agents from arresting and detaining him.

Meanwhile, the Force Publuc Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, acknowledged Adeleke’s detention, explaining that he was arrested for a criminal offence.

He said: “Senator Adeleke is currently in police custody. He was taken into custody in the evening of today 6th May 2019 in connection with ongoing criminal investigations touching on his person.

“Meanwhile, in the best tradition of natural justice and fair hearing, he has already been served with the relevant charge sheet containing his alleged offences in the presence of his Attorneys.

“He will be arraigned in a competent court of law tomorrow, 7th May 2019.”
