Police, APC plot to pull down Rivers Govt will fail – PDP
The People’s Democratic Party PDP, in Rivers State has again warned that the plot by the Nigerian Police and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to pull down the Rivers State Government over the December 10, 2016, Re-run Election killings in the state will fail.
Mr. Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the PDP Chairman, Chief Felix Obuah, said in a press statement on Sunday that te PDP was confident that all efforts to implicate Governor Nyesom Wike and Obuah, by the APC, the Police or the DSS will fail, claiming that the PDP had evidence showing obvious conspiracy and orchestrated attempt to rope the party leaders into actions and killings that APC leaders themselves were guilty of.
The press statement said that APC’s reaction to the charge of conspiracy by the PDP confirmed their fears that the Police Panel investigation into the December 10, 2016, Re-run Election was targeted at indicting the PDP and its leaders.
The PDP had last week alleged that there was a clandestine plot to contract the services of some notorious gangsters as their hatchet men to frame up Governor Chief Wike, and Obuah as their paymasters for the killings, particularly the murder of ASP Molid Alkali and his orderly.
The Party described the APC response as clearly, a justification of its (the PDP) consistent position on an existing well lubricated alliance between the APC and the Police. According to the PDP, it showed the determined effort by both partners to by all means check the rising profile of Gov Wike, the PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah and other leaders of the party in the State.
It further said: “There are facts that can never be denied. This partnership between the APC leaders and the Police top authorities is with the sole aim of attempting to pull down Rivers State.
“No one can cover up the truth. We believe that if genuine and objective investigations were carried out by independent bodies, not the Nigerian Police that are parties and have demonstrated high level compromise and proof of being perpetrators in the violence, killings and rigging that took place during the said elections in the State, in slick alliance with their paymasters (the APC), the world would know the real truth of the matter.”
The PDP called on the people to discountenance all fabricated and malicious statements and actions from both the APC and the Police on this matter, but reiterated its position to stand by the truth and to ensure that justice prevailed on the killing and injustice meted on Rivers people during the elections.
It would be recalled that the PDP had earlier raised the alarm of attempt by the APC to use the Police Panel to witch-hunt and malign the Governor, the Party Chairman and other leaders of the party, with a predetermined conclusion.
