Please pray for Nigeria – Adekola

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Segun Adekola says, has charged Nigerians to enestly pray for the country for her economy recovery and prosperity as well as for general healing of the land.

He also stressed the need for Nigerian Leaders to make a selfless service their watchword, saying people must be ready to make sacrifices now than before in order to bring about meaningful development to the electorate.

Hon. Adekola who gave the submission in a release made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on this year Democracy Day celebration, pointed out that,  “this time in our national life calls for a great sober reflection and support of all and sundry for the survival and rejuvenation of Nigeria’s economy as a nation in the face of the current economic challenges facing the country”

“The dwindling in the nation’s economy is a great concern and what we need to get out of the present  development is to run to God and seek his face for redemption and healing of our Land.

“According to proverb 14 (34) “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. But God gave the grace in the book of 2chronicle 7 (14) by saying “if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and  turn from their wicked ways; Then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”.

The Politician said, this is not the time to appoint blames to anybody because “what is happening in our national life is beyond human control and imagination.”We need to face the reality and shun politics of bitterness in order for us not to commit another grave sin. There must be a halt on
blaming our past leaders for sin they did not commit but rather all hands must be on deck to look back and check where we got it all wrong and seek God’s face for a swift intervention”.

“What is going on in the World especially, the Oil producing nations due to fall in the price of oil to below 30 dollars and recently 50 dollars per barrel is a un called for but a natural phenomenon which is beyond human comprehension and control, hence the need to seek the face of God.

“And the case of Nigeria is being compounded with the daily attacks on Oil facillities in the Niger- Delta region of the Country by the Niger-Delta Avengers Militants, the development is worrisome and uncouth on the economy. We have not totally overcome the  menace of Boko Haram insurgents and the herdsmen are also on rampage.

“It is therefore imperrative for the federal government to swing into action and put in place, palliative measures in order to cushing the harsh effects of the recent increase in the pump price of petrol from official 86 naira to #145 per litre.”

While congratulating Nigerians, people of Ekiti State and Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, Hon. Adekola called on them to remain optimism in “Nigeria Project” for a sustainable development of the nation.

“Nigeria remains our own, therefore everybody needs to contribute his or her own quota positively and at the same time share blames when necessary with determination at all times to development the country by supporting our leaders through prayers and encouragement.”he added.
