All to play for in Ibadan: Etisalat U15 School Cup Preview

There would be no margin for errors as schools battle for the national finals’ ticket on the last day of Ibadan regional playoffs
Ekiti State vs. Edo State
Christ School, Ado Ekiti head into their final game as leaders on the log after two games. A 5-2 win over Preston International School and a walkover against Delta state puts Femi Kumuyi’s side in pole position to qualify for the national finals in Lagos but they will have to keep their guards on check against Niger College of Edo State.
Austin Ogieriakhi’s team are yet to play a full game as they benefited from Delta State’s absence in their first game before playing 15 minutes against Ondo on Wednesday due to their opponents’ numerical disadvantage men on the field, making it impossible for the game to continue.
Edo are tied with their opponents on six points but have scored two goals less. Christ School are in much better shape than Niger College and will look to make it count.
Osun State vs. Ogun State
Ife Oluwa Middle High School of Osun State did not start their campaign well as they lost 1-0 to Asegun Comprehensive High school of Oyo State in a game that had to be played the next day due to bad light.
However, Tunde Adebowale’s boys have adjusted by putting in a spirited performance against Ipakodo High School of Lagos State with a 2-0 win. This gives them a slim chance of qualification but will have to do better in matching the superior goal difference of Edo, Ekiti and Oyo State.
For NUD High School from Ogun, it is nothing but pride they are playing for in this final game as defeats to Lagos and Oyo State means that they have no points and can have no way of navigating their way into the top two even if they defeat Ife Oluwa.
Ondo State vs. Delta State
Since Delta State have no representative, it automatically means a walkover for Preston International School. Samson Ajama’s team however have no chance of qualifying from this round as they lost their opening two matches.
Oyo State vs. Lagos State
Asegun Comprehensive High School representing Oyo State have been one of the stand out teams of the competition. A 1-0 win over Osun State was followed by 5-1 thrashing of Ogun State. This sees them sit third on the log on six points tied with Ekiti and Edo State with a goal difference of just one. They are very much in the hunt to qualification but that will be dependent of Ekiti and Edo State’s results.
Oyo would have to get past Ipakodo High School from Lagos State who sit in fifth place on the table with three points from two games. Innocent Abuajah must motivate his boys to beat the impressive Asegun side by more than six goals while also hoping results do not favour Edo and Ekiti State who as its stands are in pole position for qualification to the national finals.
