Plateau approves establishment of health agency- Commissioner
Plateau State government has said it has been given approval for the establishment of the Plateau State Health Agency in preparation of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the formal sector.
Muhammad Nazif, Commissioner for information and Communication stated this on Monday while addressing news men at the monthly Ministerial briefing in Jos the state capital.
He said also five ambulances have been procured and distributed to five hospitals in the state , so also funds have been approved by the governor and have been released to offset surgery expenses for ten children with heart defects who wee operated upon.
“We are also proud to say that one of the high point of our activities during this period was the containment of the recent lassa fever outbreak in which no casualty was recorded”.
Nazif also said in the past one year there has been steady improvement in the conditions necessary for the conduct of educational activities.
“In his words: “You could recall that our efforts in the sector began at the state owned university at Bokkos where sanity was substantially restored to enable us maximise the institutions huge potential.
“Governmen’ts commitment to educational development is also noticeable in the college of Agriculture Garkawa as the governor recently gave approval for the release of one hundred and twenty five million naira for the provision of critical facilities required for the accreditation of programmes in the college. Also our governor has given approval for the re – engagement of 21 academic staff to enhance staff strength and quality of training some physical structures and equipment have also been improved upon thereby facilitating and interIm accreditation of number of courses, college of health Zwan also got over 17 million naira to equip and install an ultra modern library and is now in use having been commissioned by the governor. Under primary and secondary education, Governor Lalong has approved the release of funds for effective administration of the sector.
“Government recongnises the Jos Wild Life Park as one of the flagship of the tourism industry in the state , hence despite limited resources , efforts are continuously being made to keep its operations alive”.
He appealed to citizens of the state to continue to partner with them in order to improve the standard of living of the state and its people.
