Physically challenged thank Ikpeazu over past appointments, gifts
Just as the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, is set to re-constitute his cabinet, the physically challenged persons in the state have thanked him for appointing some of their members in his last set of aides.
However, they have requested that more of such appointments and gestures be extended to them.
Coming under the aegis of Okezuo Abia Disabled Friends, and led by an immediate past Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Disability, Mr. Chinedum Henry, as well as Mr. James, the group said they came to thank the Governor for all he has been doing for them and appreciated the Governor for giving them sense of belonging.
They also appreciated the Governor for giving them wheel-chairs, scholarships, and other gift items during his ‘thank you visit’ to local government areas in the state as well as houses built for them by the Governor’s wife and the opportunity to be part of his Education for Employment initiative.
Addressing them later, the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, directed them to submit to him, specific areas of their needs to enable his government know what could be done for them.
According to Governor Ikpeazu, his government may not solve all their problems but would ensure that the problems are reduced, describing it as their right to be treated well.
Governor Ikpeazu disclosed the intention of his administration to accommodate the physically challenged in future building plans in the state.
He also encouraged them to rely on God in everything they do and not to allow people to pity them as God is capable of taking care of them.
