PDP wins majority in Imo assembly after re-run

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state has won 13 local government areas out of the 27 in the state.
PDP won supplementary elections that took place on Saturday in Ikeduru, Oguta and Ngor Okpala council areas while the Action Alliance (AA) won in Isu council area.
With the results announced by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ikeduru, AA got 2, 646, APC got 4, 042, APGA 3, 314, while PDP got 18, 791 votes.
In Ngor Okpala, the APC got 5, 670, AA got 7, 557 and PDP got 11, 500. In Orlu, AA got 7, 768, APC got 2, 126, APGA got 3, 299, while PDP got 8, 694.
Following the outcome of the re-run poll, the PDP now enjoys a comfortably majority in the state House of Assembly for the next four years, with the expectation that many of the elected assembly members from other parties will defect to the PDP.
