PDP wins C’River State Assembly seat ahead of Nov 17 bye -election

Egbong Stella Nkoro, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has already won the Ikom II State Constituency of Cross River State seat ahead of Saturday November 17, 2018 bye- election.

This indication was given by Saheed D Toroa, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voters Education Committee of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Barrister Festus Okoye, in a statement made available in Abuja on Thursday.

According to INEC, Nkoro was the only candidate whose name was received by the Commission at the end of the November 6, 2018 date for submission of Forms CF001 and CF002 as submitted by her party, the PDP

In the statement, which contain information on candidates presented by parties for bye- elections into three Federal Constituencies and one State Constituency, Okoye said political parties were given till Saturday November 4, 2018 to conduct primaries among candidates jostling for the seats and submit names of emerged candidates on Monday November 6, 2018.

He said Nasiru Lawal Kankia of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Abdullahi Umar of YES Electorates Solidarity (YES), Abdudsamad Yusuf Abdullahi of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Abubakar Yahaya Kusada of All Progressives Congress (APC) were cleared for the Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency of Katsina State.

For Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, the Commission cleared Shehu Buba Umar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Yusuf Comrade Nuhu of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okoye said five parties presented candidates for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Oke Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

They are Femi Awokunle Ona-Ara of Labour Party, Olaniyan Taiye Ayorinde of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Jimoh Saheed Damilare of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ajayi Olayemi Bidemi of Peoples Party of Nigeria and Olawuyi Raheem Tunji of All Progressives Congress (APC).
