PDP will revive Nigeria’s economy, if re-elected – Akinlude

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former two term chairman of Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos State, Chief Willy Akinlude, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in spite of the current harsh economic realities in the country, insisting that a PDP government will put smiles back on their faces once again.

The former Lagos PDP Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) gave the hint while speaking with journalists in Ondo State during the Independence Day celebrations. He believes that all hope is not lost as the PDP is set to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians come next year.

His words: “We are very optimistic of recapturing power because the economy is in shambles and does needs to be revitalised.

People are hungry, people are not happy. There is insecurity and the economy is at its lowest ebb. We need another government that can come in and even ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

The gale of defections by prominent politicians into the PDP has further brighten the chances of the party in the coming polls and this shows that people are now reasonable and want a better government.”

According to him, if a government is not okay, let us use the other one and there will be improvements. PDP have learnt their lessons. They are going to perform better this time around.

During their time the economy was good. Nigerians were not crying like this, it is so bad now that it is only the PDP that can take Nigerians out of poverty,” he added.

While warning the INEC Chairman, Professor Yakub Mahmood that his integrity and credibility is at stake if he is not going to conduct free and fair election, he said inter-alia- that apart from the last governorship election in Edo, Kogi and Ekiti states, what happened in Osun was an eye-sore.

Reports from there say people were killed, ballot boxes were snatched and election manipulated to favour the All Progressives Congress (APC). So, it is a bad omen for 2019 elections,” he warned.

While advising Nigerians regarding their choice of candidate next year, he said, “We need a very strong President that really know Nigeria and Nigerians, so definitely, PDP are going to fish out somebody that will foster peace and unity of the country, as well as cater for their well-being.

PDP government does not suffer the people, they operate collective responsibility and not dictatorial government as it is being done now.”

For the PDP to realise its dream next year, Akinlude urged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to have a forgiving spirit and support former vice president, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku if he emerges as PDP Presidential flag-bearer at the primary slated for Port Harcourt, Rivers State Capital.
