Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state has said voting for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and its flag bearer, Jeremiah Useni, will return the state to the era of no work no pay. He said the PDP owed the Plateau state civil service workers a total of 10 months salaries before exiting office in 2015. Lalong stated this on Friday in Pankshin local government area of the state during his campaign flag-off to herald his return to the office. “Don’t vote the PDP, the want to return us to the era of crisis and non payment of salaries. “They want to bring back tribalism where only their ethnic group will benefit from infrastructure. “Jonah Jang concentrated major road construction in his area when he was governor and today nobody is plying that road. “We are now enjoying peace but they want to bring back crisis which is their style of leadership. “Useni said he will be governor for only four years, but I want to assure you that it is not possible and if we allow him he will truncate the zoning arrangement in the state. Our correspondent reports that Pankshin LGA which is part of the central zone will be due to produce governor in 2023, should Lalong win his re-election bid”. Lalong who hails from the southern zone of Shandam LGA is contesting to complete his eight years in office should he win in the coming governorship election. Daily Times reports that Jeremiah Useni comes from the same zone with the incumbent Lalong and fear has it that if Useni gets to power he might not respect the zoning arrangement and will want to run for another eight years an action that will not go down well with the people from the central zone.
