PDP to APC: Stop intimidating our leaders

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has condemned the ceaseless arrest of PDP leaders, the latest of which is the former Senate President David Mark.
Secondus made the call during the meeting of the newly elected members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and members of the Board of Trustee at the Wadata House in Abuja.
According to Secondus, the intimidation is enough as the party will no longer keep quiet while its leaders are being subjected to all forms of harassment.
Secondus said, “All over the world there is no place a former senate president can be treated the way David Mark was treated.
“We shall not be humiliated by the witch hunt of the APC government. Those in authority should be very careful because power will come and power will go.
“I want to call on the APC government to stop this intimidation. Enough is enough. All they do is intimidating, demonizing, harassing our people. Don’t intimidate the opposition, that is injustice, fulfill what you have promised to the people.
“You don’t need to attack us. Let’s engage in a more meaningful manner. We are not in a military era. Let me remind them that God does not sleep.
“The time shall come when Nigerians will speak with their votes in their hands. By that time you will not be able to intimidate them because they will vote freely” Secondus reminded the ruling party.
He was very optimistic that the PDP will bounce back and take over governance of the country and he reassured members of the BoT that they will always rely on their wise counsel.
“At every time, God brings a leader to take care of the party, we shall not disappoint you.
“Time shall come and we shall win. It had happened to us in 2015, and we handed over. Let them also prepare to hand over to us in 2019.
“We shall rely on your support and we will respect the constitution of the party. We shall not bring back imposition and impunity,” Secondus was told.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the BOT, Senator Walid Jibrin said that the emergence of Secondus has proved wrong the notion that only a former governor, minister or president is qualified to be the party Chairman.
He promised to work with him and reminded him that the whole Nigeria is hopeful that PDP will recover all the 776 local government chairmanship seats, the 36 governorship positions, the 360 seats in the House of Representatives, and 106 senate positions.
He urged the NWC to ensure that all warring factions in the party are reconciled, “Now that the convention is over, we support the reconciliation efforts of the Dickson led committee and will look into all the petitions sent.
He paid tribute to the former Chairman, Senator Makarafi for a successful convention.
The party’s National Secretary, Senator Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri in his vote of thanks said, “APC is very good at opposition. PDP is very good at governance. By 2019, APC will go back to what they are very good at which is while PDP will also go back to governance which they are very good at.”
Other PDP stalwarts present at the event were Chief Tom Ikimi, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo, Chief Ahmadu Ali, Ambassador Juta, Chief Kema Chikwe and Senator Adolphus Wabara.
