Pay more attention at home, raise great children, Primate urges women

The Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, the Anglican Primate of All Nigeria, on Sunday, advised women to pay more attention to the home to raise children of good conduct for a better society.
Okoh, who gave the advice at the 20th Annual Diocesan Women’s conference in Abuja, stressed that the role of women in the home could not be over emphasised.
He said that just as the women were important to the home, the home was also important to the church and the church, important to the society.
The primate however advised women to ensure that all the distractions and evils that were observed in the society were avoided in homes.
”Women must ensure that societal distractions are avoided in the homes so that children are well brought up and have good behaviours to present to the society.
”If we have good homes, we will raise children with good upbringing and the church will be the right place to go to in search of honesty, integrity and all that is beautiful, ” he said.
The President, Anglican Women, Church of Nigeria, Nkasiobi Okoh, advised women in the church to work together and stay united in all their endeavours.
She noted that the days when women left their children in the care of maids, neighbours, friends and relatives were long gone and urged women to be mindful of their children.
Nkasiobi added that women must know what the children did in their spare time, and caution them when they did wrong and generally pray for them.
She urged the government to make more laws to protect the interest of the girl child and women in the country.
”The girl child is being exposed to so many things now, a lot of laws have to be made to check on how things affect them, like the paedophile issue, ” she said.
