Ortom’s wife fetes victims of fire disaster

Governor Samuel Ortom‘s wife, Dr Eunice Ortom, has donated twenty bags of beans, ten bags of rice, ten cartons of detergents and five bags of gari to victims of the recent fuel tanker fire disaster at Gbatse in Ushongo town.

Dr Otom while presenting the relief materials assured the victims that the state government would assist in paying their hospital bills even as she gave financial assistance to the families of the deceased.

She convey the condolences of her husband who she said visited some of the victims at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and also approved her visit.

Mrs Ortom also paid homage on the traditional rulers in the area led by the First Class Ruler of the Kwande Intermediate Area, Chief Ambrose Iyortyer where she spoke with families of the deceased at his palace.

The Tor Kwande, Chief Iyortyer, expressed regret that the disaster occurred because his warning and that of the police that people should stay away from where the petrol tanker had an accident fell on deaf ears but commended the First Lady and her husband for their efforts to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
