Operation Crocodile Smile II : Buratai urges troops to be more aggressive in combatting crime

Operation

In order to successfully achieve the goal to rid Lagos and Ogun of crime through the ‘Operation Crocodile Smile II’ , the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has charged personnel participating in the exercise to be more aggressive in carrying out their task.

The COAS who was speaking during a visit to troops of the Special Forces Battalions in Epe on Tuesday admonished them to work diligently as well as use intelligence reports from sister security agencies to achieve the needful.

In his address, Gen Buratai said, “this is an exercise meant to train you and you must be proficient. The report from the Sector Commander is impressive and I assure you that your welfare and logistics will be provided for. I also want you to maintain a high standard of disciple. I also appreciate your efforts.”

Brig Gen Attu had on the arrival of the COAS at the Tactical Headquarters, Sector 1 briefed him on the successes and constraints about the ongoing Operation.

Also, as part of its corporate social responsibility and a sustained effort of Gen Buratai to promote Civil-Military Corporation, over a thousand customised “Crocodile Smile 11″ notebooks were denoted to the Epe community and received by His Royal Highness Oba Abdulrafiu Balogun Ishola, the Elejirin of Ejirin.

For Oba Ishola, the visit of the COAS was timely. He revealed that the presence of the army had improved the security situation in the community.

He said, ” since this exercise started with the heavy presence of the army, we can now sleep with our two eyes closed. Before now, kidnappers made our community hell to live but now we thank God all of that is history. ”

He therefore appealed to Gen Buratai to have a permanent army base in his kingdom, stressing that they would make land available to the army to build a barrack for the troops.

“Around October to December, 2016 and early part of 2017, it was hell for us here. We could not sleep with our eyes closed as kidnappers swooped on the villagers abducting people without any resistance.

“Since the military came here, we have been having peace. We appreciate you for saving our lives and we want to appeal to the Chief of Army Staff to leave his men permanently here.

“We assure you of maximum cooperation and would provide you with land to build barracks for your men,” he promised.
