Ooni crowns new Obalufe amid tight security, legal tussle

 

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has finally crowned Oba Olaniyi Adediwura as new Obalufe amidst tight security.

This was as the Aga ruling family of the Obalufe compound has headed for the court, saying their family should be the one to produce the new Obalufe.

The first sitting for the case was stalled with the absence of the judge.

While crowning the new Obalufe, ‎Ooni Ogunwusi said that Oba Adediwura’s appointment followed the customs and rites expected.

The Ooni asked him to support other kingmakers and join him in his agenda to take Ile-Ife and Yoruba nation to an enviable height in the country.

The foremost royal father also appealed to all other kingmakers in the ancient city to join hands with new Obalufe to develop Ile Ife.

The new Obalufe was presented with the staff  and other instrument of office by Ooni Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

In his remarks, Oba Olaniyi Adediwura,  in company of his wife Olori Olushola Adediwura appreciated God, the Ooni and all indigenes in general, for the opportunity bestowed on him to serve his people.

He promised to serve his people and support Oba Ogunwusi to achieve all his agenda in making the youths have a sense of belonging.

The new Obalufe said that he would use all in his powers to make the Yoruba nation be in the lead of every nation, making Ile-Ife an envy and pride among all other nation.

He also pledged to work in harmony with Ooni and other rulers in the state. He, however,  charged other contestants for the throne of Obalufe to come together in making Ile-Ife a great nation.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, charged the new Obalufe to always pursue peace, development and progress for Ile Ife and Yoruba nation at large.

Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were Senator Babajide Omoworare, all the chiefs and Obas in Ile-Ife kingdom, among others.
