Ondo police parades 8 suspected killers of APC chieftain

Ondo State Police Command on Thursday paraded a 45 year old palm wine tapper, Francis Bekewei and his 22 year old son David and six others for complicity in the kidnap and murder of an APC chieftain, Olumide odimayo.
Late Odimayo was kidnapped last week Thursday by armed men who stormed his Igbotu residence in Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.
He was later found dead on Monday by the bank of the river by youths who were also joined in the search of the All Progressives Congress (APC) local chieftain.
However, Hilda Ibifuro Harrison, the commissioner of police in the State paraded the eight suspect at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital.
Mrs. Harrison said the suspects were arrested with 10 mobile phones, 1 Ak 47 rifles and 21 rounds of live ammunition by detectives and with the support of local vigilantes in Igbotu.
She said the lifeless body of Odimayo, was later found in the creeks of Ajagba while his body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
She assured that efforts are on to arrest fleeing members of the gang stressing that the suspects would be charged to court after completion of investigation.
One of the suspects, David, who was found with the AK47 told newsmen they collectively plan the kidnap for ransom and expressed regrets that odimayo died in the river they dropped him while being chased by Local vigilante.
