Ondo govt budgets 75% of own N7.6 Paris Club Refund for outstanding salaries, arrears

The Ondo State government has earmarked 75 per cent of its share of the Paris Club Refund released to it by the federal government on Monday to the payment of salaries and pensions while 25 percent is devoted to capital projects.
Segun Ajiboye, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu confirmed this in Akure on Thursday stressing that “as a responsive government, the present administration is committed to use the funds for the purposes they are designed for.”
He further stated that the government of Governor Akeredolu was committed to the yearnings of the people by initiating life changing programme and benefit.
In a related development, a social critic, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, has asked the state government to judiciously used the new fund to offset the state workers’ salaries.
Ogunleye, who spoke with our reporter in Akure, also asked the people of the state to monitor the use of the Paris Club.
He explained that the civil servants in the state have suffered enough and passed through untold hardship due to arrears being owed by the government.
“The pass government in the state owed this outstanding salary but now that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has received the Paris Club refund there should be no cause for excuse”, Mr. Ogunleye said.
Daily Times reported that the civil servants in the workforce of the Ondo State Government are being owed five months outstanding salaries.
